Zita Ortiz is a singer/ songwriter from Landover MD. She was born into a family of 12 siblings, her father was quick to put together a gospel singing group. Her father, Thomas "Dickie" Threat was a part of the 1950's doo wop group The Five Keys. She was exposed to vocal harmonies at a young age. She wrote her first song at the age of 8. Full of passion for the arts, early childhood memories among her siblings includes the many "plays" that Zita would write and put on for the family, using her sisters and cousins to fill the parts. She was unaware of the ups and downs that life would soon bring. She witnessed her parents divorce at an early age, watched her mother struggle as a single mom after 25 years of marriage. Then struggled to find her own identity and true voice as she found herself involved in "ministry" for many years, but felt she was not living her true purpose. After years of self reflection, soul searching and inner work, she once again found the passion for her artistry and found her true voice. Her mission is to do her part in raising the collective consciousness and sparking the desire in those that hear her voice to also pursue their purpose. Zita's songwriting comes from personal experience. Her desire is to remind others that no matter how long it takes, each individual has a chance to complete their mission here, as long as they are alive.
