Zitakula

In the past few years, Zitakula has become a staple act in the Amsterdam afrofunk scene, which includes bands like <a href="spotify:artist:2StcyX3fmelae5agBHIkDO" data-name="Jungle By Night">Jungle By Night</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:1RVrNwHf4vDvBALBS2W5xA" data-name="Koffie">Koffie</a>. The nine-piece built a live reputation on hard work and sweaty dance floors. Fronted by the Belgian-Congolese vocalist Sandy Bakomi, Zitakula has brought its mix of afrobeat, funk and soul to prime Dutch festivals like Oerol, Noorderslag, Zwarte Cross, Valkhof, Welcome to the Village, Wildeburg and Into the Woods—and beyond the borders, at the Gentse Feesten.

Zitakula’s debut album &#39;Oasis&#39; was released in 2017, capturing the band’s massive and diverse sound. The record was produced and mixed by Wiboud Burkens (<a href="spotify:artist:5rp8SUtb8FSlDs0GWPoLz8" data-name="Lilian Vieira">Lilian Vieira</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7pxBUDDLR7kJdn3X2uT4fZ" data-name="Re:freshed Orchestra">Re:freshed Orchestra</a>, Jungle by Night) and mastered by Steve Berson (Daptone Records, <a href="spotify:artist:5q4eLKmqFVP0xII8087PHz" data-name="The Budos Band">The Budos Band</a>). The band presented ‘Oasis’ on primetime television in Dutch talkshow ‘De Wereld Draait Door’ and a bunch of live radio shows. The band is unrelenting and will release a new single in december 2017 through the Paradiso Vinyl Club label. The release coincides with a winter club tour through the Netherlands.
