Zoe Tan

Traveling halfway across the world from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to push the boundaries of the music industry in New York City, Zoe Tan is Southeast Asia’s newest folk singer-songwriter to watch out for. Zoe’s songwriting is honest, raw, and intimate, her lyricism being the core of everything that she does and stands for. The foundation of her music evokes the energy of The Carpenters and Bread, artists introduced to her by her father at an early age, and more recently draws inspiration from Phoebe Bridgers, Lizzy McAlpine, Tracy Chapman, and Carole King.

Zoe’s biggest aspiration in her music is to blend the sound of the Troubadours of the 1970s with her Malaysian-Chinese culture and to bring Southeast Asian artists to the forefront of the music industry. In Malaysia, Zoe has opened for some of the most trailblazing artists in the country such as Yuna, and Lunadira, and has performed in the Urbanscapes Festival in 2019 where Glass Animals headlined. As she continues to hone her craft at The Clive Davis Institute at NYU Tisch School of The Arts, she has performed at Arlene's Grocery, The Bitter End, S.O.B.’s, and the pinkFROG café. Zoe released her debut single, “Walk Out The Door” on August 16th, and she is currently working on her second single.
