Zyzyx is the project of 23 year old producer and singer/songwriter Derek Bond. The project was started in 2015. With the help of other aspiring producers on the internet, he taught himself production and mixing techniques. He also took piano lessons, guitar lessons, and voice lessons. By the age of 15, he was creating complex melodic dubstep music that garnered recognition from popular YouTube channels such as DubstepGutter and AirWaveTV. People often commented on his outstanding production capabilities at such a young age. Bond built a dedicated fanbase around his music, though he couldn’t have done it without the help of Geometry Dash users. Having been a popular level creator in the Geometry Dash community, Bond was inspired by the electronic music found in the game and decided to pursue creating his own. Fans from Geometry Dash took a liking to his music and started using it in levels. Notably, his friend in the community, SirHadoken, used the song “Echolands” in the level “Somewhere” which became a featured level in a Geometry Dash game. This caused the song to garner hundreds of thousands of streams. In 2018, Bond started writing indie music under the alias blue for you. He has released a few Zyzyx songs since then, notably “Serotonin Syndrome”, which has been featured in Geometry Dash. Bond plans to release more music under both Zyzyx and blue for you.
