On their new EP called "Paranoid Betazoid", the Warsaw-based trio went for maximum eclecticism. <a href="spotify:artist:5M52tdBnJaKSvOpJGz8mfZ" data-name="Black Sabbath">Black Sabbath</a>-like riffs are mixed with synths, catchy <a href="spotify:artist:4hvwEwrCmGj22uURGVET7Q" data-name="Monster Magnet">Monster Magnet</a>-style choruses are intertwined with instrumental parts reminiscent of bands such as <a href="spotify:artist:7AC976RDJzL2asmZuz7qil" data-name="Yes">Yes</a> or <a href="spotify:artist:2Hkut4rAAyrQxRdof7FVJq" data-name="Rush">Rush</a>.
On the new mini-album, the band remains in the same futuristic, dystopian universe as on their last album - the 2022 album "<a href="spotify:album:1Zp7IKteWU3C6To9HH56IM" data-name="Panther">Panther</a>". However, the atmosphere of "Paranoid Betazoid" is much more psychedelic, the music more experimental, and the compositions more elaborate.
The songs on the new EP are definitely darker than on the band's two previous albums. "The subject matter of the lyrics revolves around the state of our minds and the state of our planet in the 2020s", says 1965 vocalist and guitarist Michał Rogalski - "so naturally they are rather pessimistic."
"This is the most organic thing we have recorded so far", says the band's drummer Tomasz Rudnicki - "unlike the first two albums, where Michał brought songs and the band polished them together, "Paranoid Betazoid" is the result of collective jamming and composing from the very beginning."
“This EP was a great opportunity for me to make full use of my compositional skills,” says 1965 bassist Marco Caponi. “I brought a bit more of my mathematical approach to music to “Paranoid Betazoid,” which I think fits the atmosphere of this EP very well.”
