With a charismatic personality that helps give his braggadocios rhymes an elevated dimension, Compton rapper 1TakeJay is building a reputation as one of the most eccentric and exciting rappers to come out of Los Angeles' contemporary rap renaissance. 1TakeJay's foray into music lands on the relatively unconventional side, initially dedicating his time to advancing his football career until his friends encouraged him to try his hand at rapping. Competitive by nature, 1TakeJay was inclined to step up to the challenge without hesitation, finding himself pleasantly surprised at his own natural talent. With the guidance and encouragement of his friends, 1TakeTeezy and 1TakeQuan, whom he met at Compton's Centennial High School, 1TakeJay began experimenting with his own distinctive cadence and signature vocal style, approaching every instrumental as an opportunity to simultaneously entertain others and sharpen his skills. Together, utilizing the group name 1TakeBoyz, the trio made their debut on SoundCloud in 2014, going on to release their first mixtape, 1TakeMovement, the following year.
