Bay Area rapper Offset Jim delivers unflinching lyrics about crime and drug dealing in a cold, nonchalant monotone. First appearing on releases by childhood friend <a href="spotify:artist:1cutd8e41XvxXnFPOFIxMD">ALLBLACK</a>, he guested on releases by <a href="spotify:artist:02kJSzxNuaWGqwubyUba0Z">G-Eazy</a> and Nef the Pharaoh, and issued his debut album, Rich Off the Pack, in 2021.

Offset Jim grew up on the east side of Oakland. His early rap influences included <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Cash+Money%22">Cash Money</a> acts like <a href="spotify:artist:0ecnb1WPePfrHg4yfQfmqN">the Hot Boys</a>, Bay Area rappers such as <a href="spotify:artist:1Z3HvW1V35gdsbhY20SMoU">the Jacka</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:3crnzLy8R4lVwaigKEOz7V">E-40</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:1HwM5zlC5qNWhJtM00yXzG">DMX</a>. Jim became a rapper when his friend <a href="spotify:artist:1cutd8e41XvxXnFPOFIxMD">ALLBLACK</a> invited him into the studio, and his first recorded appearance was on <a href="spotify:artist:1cutd8e41XvxXnFPOFIxMD">ALLBLACK</a>'s 2017 mixtape No Shame 2. Jim joined the Oakland crew <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Play+Runners+Association%22">Play Runners Association</a>, and continued guesting on tracks by <a href="spotify:artist:1cutd8e41XvxXnFPOFIxMD">ALLBLACK</a> and YID, among others. He issued his first EP, No Pressure, in 2019, and his joint collaboration with <a href="spotify:artist:1cutd8e41XvxXnFPOFIxMD">ALLBLACK</a>, 22nd Ways, came out later in the year. Jim appeared on tracks by <a href="spotify:artist:02kJSzxNuaWGqwubyUba0Z">G-Eazy</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0dT2U2jUx6OmKlyeQOH8AK">ShooterGang Kony</a>, and Nef the Pharaoh. Rich Off the Pack arrived in 2021, preceded by the <a href="spotify:artist:1rHOtdmGNr5vcYNw5v7QGC">Kenny Beats</a>-produced "Face Card." ~ Paul Simpson
