Hailing from Rugby UK, <a href="spotify:artist:0ERJKNhiZdVmatSNpmmP3X" data-name="2u4u">2u4u</a> is not your average hip-hop group. The group’s OG members, musician & producer ATMA and emcee <a href="spotify:artist:1wqyggWgGp6GQrLsiupYQK" data-name="My Rugema">My Rugema</a>, met in school, and clicked over their favourite beats and breaks. Followed by the addition in 2016 of ATMA’s brother, musician & producer Ranbir, and South London emcee badcal, together they created that hot rap shit. The release of 2U4U’s first promo single <a href="spotify:album:5OsFAhcebbWwA28AeasaI7" data-name="Kings of Africa (Tell Me)">Kings of Africa (Tell Me)</a> piqued interest from music publications Dummy Mag and The 405, while its second release, <a href="spotify:album:4roqHiVbGmevnmBsg1iUSw" data-name="Home">Home</a> was added to XL Play (XL Recordings), as well as being spun on Reprezent. 2U4U's official single <a href="spotify:album:5fbQb3sNgpfI93KMClSYao" data-name="Fall">Fall</a> picked up significant traction after being added to the world renowned Spotify Alternative Hip Hop Playlist, before being spun by Jamz Supernova and others across BBC Radio 1/1Xtra. 2U4U's second single, <a href="spotify:album:0EtBhmTgmatvplz7jWVsJE" data-name="Gurl">Gurl</a> - premiered by Afropunk alongside the accompanying video debuted by Complex UK - received airplay across BBC Radio 1, alongside being added to Spotify's Fresh Finds. <a href="spotify:album:0srv74lYzl8FhCG61oClTM" data-name="Butter">Butter</a>, the group’s debut EP and sonic blueprint, followed in August 2018. In 2019, 2U4U's song <a href="spotify:album:5OsFAhcebbWwA28AeasaI7" data-name="Kings of Africa (Tell Me)">Kings of Africa (Tell Me)</a> was featured in episode 2 of Netflix series TOP BOY Season 3 as executive produced by <a href="spotify:artist:3TVXtAsR1Inumwj472S9r4" data-name="Drake">Drake</a>. During the lockdown, 2U4U spent its time releasing freestyles, gaining plaudits from the likes of <a href="spotify:artist:1jVvXqdwDHekLwFBamrcUx" data-name="Frankie Stew and Harvey Gunn">Frankie Stew and Harvey Gunn</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:4oDjh8wNW5vDHyFRrDYC4k" data-name="Loyle Carner">Loyle Carner</a>. In February 2022, the group announced its dissolution due to creative differences.
