A Murder in Mississippi is a six-piece band from Ghent, Belgium. They play Roots: a blend of Americana, Country, Folk, Blues and Irish Traditional. The band members share their passion for music and merge their diverse backgrounds into a wide array of sounds, creating a distinct style and contemporary twist in their repertoire. Whether it be soft harmonies or melodies that work you up, they will drag you to the wide North American plains!
A Murder in Mississippi is back with their third album titled "Reverie." After the powerful
impact of their previous album "Hurricana" (2021), it is time for reflection. Shortly after the
release of Hurricana, the band unexpectedly had to say goodbye to Belgian blues icon,
mentor, and friend Tiny Legs Tim, who had taken A Murder in Mississippi under his wing with
his label Sing My Title. While the threat of the storm always seems near, a moment of clarity
arises to redefine their path and combine their strengths.
In 2023, A Murder in Mississippi performed in sold-out venues and festivals in Belgium, the
Netherlands, and Germany, sharing the stage with artists such as Kitty Daisy & Lewis and
Pokey Lafarge at the Roots & Roses Festival. After a successful tour through Portugal, Spain,
and France, they concluded in style as headliners at Bluegrass in La Roche.
The sextet is now climbing higher and returning with their third full-length record "Reverie." (2024).
