A Priori were an amazing band from Morristown, NJ. They didn't release much material, just the Damn the Past mini-LP and some comp tracks (on Shredder and Skene Records), but that was enough to leave a big impact on me when i first heard this stuff in the late '80s. They played a very melodic and emotional style of punk, with a bit of a UK influence. Chances are if you like any of the early Shredder bands like Sticks & Stones, Jawbreaker, Crimpshrine etc, you'll love this. Yet another band i discovered listening to Pat Duncan's radio show on WFMU. In 1988-89, the song Self-determination was a staple in Pat's playlist.
