The Necros were formed in 1979 in Maumee, Ohio. They were high school kids playing fast, furious, short songs of the sort that were eventually dubbed “hardcore” by the media a couple years later. In early 1981, their debut EP was the first release on Touch and Go Fanzine’s newly minted record label, Touch and Go Records. The lineup was Barry Henssler on vocals, Andy Wendler on guitar, Todd Swalla on drums, and Jeff Lake on bass.

In the spring of 1981, Necros recorded a 9 song 7”. This was a joint release by Touch and Go Records and Dischord Records in Sept 1981. It was produced by Ian Mackaye of Dischord Records. The lineup was Barry Henssler on vocals, Brian Pollack on guitar, Todd Swalla on drums, and Corey Rusk on bass. Remastered from the original analog tapes in 2024.

In 1982, Necros embarked on their first national tour, opening for the Misfits on their Walk Among Us album tour.

1983 saw the release of a new single followed by a full length album, both titled Conquest For Death. These were the final Necros releases on Touch and Go Records. The lineup was Barry Henssler on vocals, Andy Wendler on guitar, Todd Swalla on drums, and Corey Rusk on bass. Remastered from the original analog tapes in 2024.

After Corey Rusk quit in 1983, he was replaced by Ron Sakowski and Necros went on to release the Tangled Up single on Gasatanka Records in 1985, a split album (Jail Jello) with White Flag in 1986 (also on Gasatanka), and the Tangled Up album on Restless in 1987.
