Aabo

Aabo is the moniker of Aaron Bortz, an San Francisco, CA based producer and DJ. His forward-pushing sound defies genres and takes into account his vast slew of influences. At a young age, Aaron’s life was driven by the presence of music. Banging around on a piano, by ear, then later studying guitar and bass, it was known that music was always his lifeblood. From the moment of touching his first instrument, Hip-hop, Jazz, funk, R&B and other musics of the African Diaspora, became his influential go-to. Years of performing around the US in various groups influenced by the music of Fela Kuti & James Brown, brought Aabo to his next mission; to refine his skills as a producer and DJ. In Summer of 2017, Aabo released, FEEL, a collaborative album with MC/vocalist and producer, Lafa Taylor. The project encompasses the sound Soul, R&B, and Hip-hop, all thru the lens of House music. Think Frank Ocean & Anderson Park meet Disclosure/ Kaytranda. The album shows off Aabo’s handiwork as a producer, writer and arranger. It’s received press from NOISEY, Clash Magazine, NestHQ, and Mass Appeal, and been remixed by the likes of StarRo (Soulection), Flamingosis, Roy Davis JR, Mumbai Science, Penthouse Penthouse, and many others. With other stellar collaborations on the horizon and a handful of solo releases in the pipeline, Aabo is one artist to keep your eyes and ears locked on.
