The pairing of Steffan Todorović and Joonas Arro has accounted for some of the most consistent, no-nonsense club bangers to emerge in recent years. The two met in early 2018, shortly after which they formed Abdul Raeva; a project that would become pivotal in shaping a new wave of acid and progressive house.
Following an initial 2020 debut release on Dance All Day, the duo have gone from strength to strength with their driving signature club sound, featuring on key labels such as Physical Education, Haŵs and Permanent Vacation. In following years they have further explored their sonic creativities through a number of aliases, including Boom & Rang, DJ Deep State, Gearmaster and Mateo Flex.
Early 2025 saw the start of a new chapter for the pair, with the announcement that Gearmaster would become their central focus moving forward. Serving to create a more refined and versatile sound, the duo promise the same energetic style that they have become known for. Whether it’s shape-shifting psychedelia, spongy basslines or punchy grooves, fun is always the core element of their sound.
Individually, both artists have left their mark on the scene in past years too. Joonas is a critically acclaimed sound designer and mixing engineer, mainly working in the guises of Rashida Prime and Ray Faded, while Steffan is an accomplished label owner, running internationally recognised imprints such as Gestalt Records, Coymix and Terrazzo.
