Abush Zeleke was born and raised in Hageremaryam, Ethiopia. His success can be attributed to the education and skills he acquired while growing up around the Borena and Guji regions of Northern Ethiopia. During his school years, he performed with the “Gumigayo Band” before moving to Addis Ababa to pursue a career in music.
Abush is currently one of the most influential Oromiffa singers and has risen to become one of Ethiopia’s biggest music stars. His hit singles include “Maaloo Intaloo,” “Jaljilo,” and “Anekan.” In 2019, he made his debut on Coke Studio Africa, collaborating with Lourena Nhate from Mozambique. Abush’s music incorporates multiple languages, including Kiswahili, Oromiffa, Amharic, Somali, Konso, and Burji.
Apart from his music career, Abush is a multi-talented artist. He directs his own music videos and even opened his own studio, known as ‘Rofa,’ to pursue his dream of making films. His colorful music videos always aim to highlight Ethiopian culture1.
