Adam Dunning's new album, The Return, again showcases this artist’s oceanic vibe. Coined as "jazz and bossa's pop craftsman" (Tower Records, Tokyo), he brings the exotica of Brazilian Bossa Nova, Istanbul and the simplicity of seaside Australian folk for a truly authentic collection of songs once again themed on humanity's relationship to its world.
Time, and the return to primal values, culture, and humanity’s place are the ingredients of the new album. Musically blessed with orchestration, Brazilian guitars, and Dunning's trademark seductive male vocals, the album was recorded in Rio, Istanbul, and Melbourne, capturing some of greatest instrumentalists of the world including bassist Guto Verde, Alfredo Cardim (Astrud Gilberto), arranger Flavio Mendes, and co-writer Ronaldo Cotrim, with most tracks produced by Bossa Nova's go-to producer, Alex Moreira (Bossacucanova co-founder).
Teamed up with the heavenly vocals of Australian folk exponent Tash Parker, Turkey's ChanCé, and composer Ronaldo Cotrim with whom he created many of Sunset Monkey's unique sounds, Adam brings a cinematic charm to his music, yet keeps to the undeniable Dunning beach Bossa sound.
Adam has performed all over the world including Japan, Brazil, Turkey, the US, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Australia. He has also partnered with leading Bossa exponents including Joao Donato, Roberto Menescal, Cris Delanno, Alex Moreira, Ronaldo Cotrim, and ChanCé (Turkey) and Tash Parker (Australia).
