Edwin, the artist behind After Years of Nothing, used to play in lots of different bands with gigs ranging from the local pub to sold out theaters. But as you get older, priorities in life change and so these bands eventually fell apart. Then came the years of nothing: no professional music, no gigs, no recordings.
With the initial release of the Life Is Waiting EP in 2020, the discovery process began (hence the song Discovery, that refers to this process). Being involved in hardrock and metal for most of his early professional career, it was an easy place to go back to. Instead, Edwin chose for a more relaxed and mellow beach vibe.
"I had to find my own voice again," Edwin explains. "It's not easy to completely rediscover your musical identity. During the time that I didn't do anything professionally, I found myself playing mostly acoustic guitar and really enjoying the softer indie pop oriented music instead of the heavier stuff," he continues. "And now I'm pretty much the acoustic laid back singer-songwriter kind of artist, and it really suits me better than I would've thought all those years ago."
Now, after all those years of nothing, a new album is on its way and to be expected in 2024.
