AJ Jones

AJ Jones is an independent hip-hop artist and amateur skateboarder/snowboarder from Houston Texas, currently residing in Salt Lake City Utah. Know for blending introspective lyrics with a relaxed, motivational style, AJ’s music portrays a distinct sound that draws from the golden era of ’90s boom bap, while embracing the energy and punch of modern mainstream lyricism. Many of his songs reflect the complexities of society, meanwhile encouraging fans to chase a life defined by authenticity and purpose. His journey with music only began recently during the Covid outbreak, while he was quarantined in a remote town in central Vermont. With a Blue Yeti microphone, he constructed a recording booth in his nephews spare closet using a free software. After recording a few singles in the self built studio, and once Covid restrictions were lifted, AJ flew to Mexico to create his first album “The Ascension” and continued the following few years of his career in Houston. He released his first official single “Sinister” in November of 2020, followed by The Ascension in February of 2021. Almost entirely working alongside Mexican producer Itsfernyo, and Houston’s own Gooneytunes, his discography features a number of inspirational songs showcasing thoughtful punchlines and a knack for clever wordplay.
