Akantophis formed in 1998 and celebrated their first underground success in 2001 with ‘Galaria: Terra@Exitus’. After a break for personal reasons in 2004, the band reunited in 2017 with a slightly different line-up and released the 7-inch record ‘Wiederkehr’ as a turning point. ‘EXITUS XX’ (MCD) followed in 2020, finalising their older material and paving the way for this new release. With ‘Erneuerung’, Akantophis explored a broader sound while staying true to their roots and aiming to reach a wider audience with this release.
