When Akeem decided at 15 that he wanted to be an artist, little did he know that the rough
Jackson, Mississippi environment he grew up in was just the motivating factor he needed to
get to where he is today. Having built the thick skin and resilience required to keep going
no matter what stumbling blocks were in the way, there is an evident grit and edge to his
work that is sometimes inexplicable. Akeem’s musical journey really took off after releasing
his debut EP, “ROLLIN”, which features the singles: “Rollin”, “My Name”, “Sucka Free”, “Be
Alright”, and “For Real For Real”. It wasn’t until 2020, when Akeem released on Facebook
what would become a viral sensation, “Keemy Casanova”, where Akeem paired his lyrical
abilities with his acting skills. Keemy Casanova became an alter-ego, channeling 1970’s
‘pimp’ culture. The rise of Keemy Casanova garnered the attention of many celebrities
including NBA star Lou Williams, who signed Akeem to his independent label Winners
United. Following the success of “Keemy Casanova”, Akeem released the follow up to the
viral record, dropping a full 70’s inspired EP, “Mack in the Day”.
