A barber by day and musician by night; Akid Amir is the embodiment of your Malay lover boy-next-door, who serenades with tunes of life and love. He bobs a lustrous afro and is often decked in 80s inspired wearables, dug from thrift stores. Debuting as a solo artist, he creates a genre-bending sound in his native tongue that borrows elements of Malay Soul, Indie and R&B, but remaining sincerely Akid. Within his sonic realm, the listener is entirely encapsulated within a bygone era dreamt up by distinctively colourful waves of synth and old school groove. Like unravelling a time capsule, as each song progresses, long forgotten memories of tattered letters, and faded film photographs, wrinkled with folds and creases, unfold one by one.
