Al Grantham has some stories to tell.
Growing up in the small town of Paris, Ontario, Al Grantham spent his formative high-school years holed up in his bedroom, dissecting Beatles songs and dog-earing books. As he entered his twenties, Grantham began bouncing around southern Ontario, trying to find his niche as a singer/songwriter and lead guitarist. 2010 saw the release of his highly idiosyncratic one-man-band debut “When I Way A Boy…“. The formation of his band Low Hanging Lights with fellow "Paris-ite" Ian Boos soon followed, and the trio (featuring drummer Aaron Bennett) bombarded Toronto venues with their thrashy, poetic punk-folk stylings for four years, before disbanding in 2015. As Low Hanging Lights drew to a close, Al descended into the Townhouse recording studio with friend and collaborator Kaleb Hikele, to begin work on a second full-length solo record. The eponymous "Al Grantham" was released in January, 2015.
Grantham’s lyric-heavy songs reveal the mind of an experienced wallflower, a gifted storyteller, and the end-result of alienated youth from small town Ontario.
Al currently resides in Toronto’s east-end. You can call him up for a drink, whenever.
