Al Hammerman is a gifted composer and clever lyricist, whose innovative melodies evoke story and emotion. He strives for songs that capture the hearts and imagination of each listener, songs that linger long after they end.
Imagine music with all the style of the American Songbook composers such as Gershwin, Porter and Jobim. Intertwine these styles with rhythms of contemporary Jazz, Pop and Latin influences and you have the smart and sophisticated sound of Al Hammerman.
While Hammerman is first and foremost a songwriter, he also enjoys producing and being part of the shows which feature his music.
With an aptitude for creating an impressive array of commercially and artistically successful songs, numerous film and TV music supervisors have taken note.
He has been a powerful musical force in his native St, Louis, having produced and underwritten multiple benefit concerts for children’s charitable organizations, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation as well as Kids Rock Cancer, on whose advisory board he serves.
Currently releasing his 5th CD of original songs, Al also teaches at the university level and among his many other musical endeavors, he is in development a new musical titled 36Q.
Perhaps Grammy winner Patti Austin said it best “In short, love him – love his talent.”
