Alan Prince has spent a lifetime studying music for guitar and keyboard. His extensive musical studies have included classical guitar and piano, jazz guitar, music theory, and even heavy metal. Mr. Prince studied classical guitar with instructors Paul Henry, (Roosevelt University), and Maestro Jack Ceccini. He also studied jazz guitar with Timothy Burns (Moraine Valley College), and classical piano with Dr. Eugene Schlabach (Triton College). Mr Prince currently studies metal guitar, improvisation, and fusion with renowned shredder guitarist and GIT student, (Hawk), Orest Dyziak. After a ten year layoff, Mr. Prince began writing and composing music once again. As Mr. Prince writes, ” Imaginary Disasters is based on a musical idea which actually came to me in a hypnagogic dream. The music reflects both one of the most horrific and darkest periods of my life, and how my life dramatically changed as a result. The musical ideas represented here are a reflection of disasters which occurred to me both real and imagined”. Mr. Princes live shows have been touted as “Acoustic Guitar Music for Metalheads”, and “Acoustic Guitar Music on Steroids”. Mr. Prince is currently working on a very dark, ‘Imaginary Disasters’, album, which exemplifies everything from Death and Doom Metal, to symphonic and choral church music. He is also at work on his latest choral and symphonic album, which is truly a testament of his love for 20th century classical music.
