Calypso, ragga, bossa, rocksteady... In this new album, ALA.NI allows herself subtle rewritings of the most emblematic Caribbean rhythms, with interpretations that go as far as Brazil. Her crystalline voice dances, with jazz inflections reminiscent of Sade Adu and Minnie Riperton.
Inspired by a gentle life in lush landscapes, ‘Sunshine Music’ sings about love and nature, celebrating life through timelessly elegant ballads. As the child of immigrants, she is also deeply marked by living for the first time within a black majority and she sings of the damage done by imperialism.
