Alex Haller first started making psychedelic pop/rock music in his bedroom just outside Cambridge, UK in 2015. He released his first EP, Tongue Tie, in 2017 and quickly followed up with a three-track EP titled Patterns in 2018.
Analog synths, crunchy drums and woozy modulation are key to his nostalgic, summery sound. He draws on inspirations such as Beach Boys, Fleetwood Mac and Tame Impala.
The name Haller comes from the main character in Herman Hesse’s ‘Steppenwolf’, Harry Haller, who goes on a journey of self-realisation to achieve transcendence and healing. Alex Haller’s songs reflect his journey along a similar path, dealing with acceptance, vulnerability and growth.
His forthcoming LP, The Fog, has been a long-term project, running over several years and will take his music into a more poppy, synth-led direction.
