After years of sitting behind the kit in various bands as a drummer, Alex's music comes as a bittersweet homage to his late brother, Josh Prestney.
Josh and Alex grew up in Melbourne, Victoria in a relatively loud household; Alex as a drummer and Josh as a guitarist. They owe their skill and passion to their parents who allowed their love for music flourish with utmost support and joy for their craft. From teenagers to young men, music was a way of life - a passion, an outlet and a place to express endless creativity; Josh and Alex shared a close bond with their music.
In April 2020, Josh's life was cut short, as he was killed whilst performing a routine traffic stop as a member of the Victoria Police sending a shockwave of grief and anguish through the tight-knit family, who'd now lost their talented and loving blue-eyed boy.
Josh's guitars fell silent, but Alex didn't. Music was his way of healing and connecting with his late brother, and through weeks that turned into months worth of self-taught guitar, the music flowed. Alex's new single 'As Long As You're There' talks about the frustrations and difficulties of mental health injuries that we may be forced to battle. Although the fight may be tough, as long as we have those nearest and dearest to us, we will be okay.
