Alexa Ramirez is a cellist, singer, and composer known for her warm, uplifting arrangements of South American folk music. Blending voice and cello with lively rhythms, her sound draws on a rich mix of influences from Latin America, Germany, Ireland, and Spain.
Born into a German-Peruvian family of artists and scientists, Alexa grew up in Germany, Peru, Canada, and the U.S.—an international upbringing that shaped her wide-reaching musical identity. Classically trained on cello since the age of four, she holds a BA in Music from Oberlin College and a Master’s in Film Composition from Columbia College Chicago.
At the heart of Alexa's creative work is her passion for folk music and dance from around the world. Alexa has performed Irish folk music in both the U.S. and Ireland, studied Flamenco in Spain, and shared South American music as both a singer and cellist in ensembles in Peru and the States. Now based in Los Angeles, she composes original music, collaborates across genres, and creates arrangements and recordings for film scores and multi media projects.
Her debut album, Lilalá, is a vibrant collection of folk songs from Peru, Argentina, Portugal, Germany, and Ireland. Through her music, Alexa invites listeners into a space of joy, warmth, and shared humanity.
