From Rivière-du-Loup, Canada, Alvar is a doom metal/stoner/death doom band blending melancholic atmospheres, epic melodies, and crushing heaviness. Since their formation in 2019, the band has carved a unique niche in the Canadian metal scene, drawing inspiration from the rich folklore of Quebec’s Bas-Saint-Laurent region.
In July 2024, Alvar released their debut EP, Réminiscence, a five-track journey through legends and emotions. The EP showcases their dynamic sound, from haunting acoustic passages to brutal riffs, drawing comparisons to bands like Agalloch and Gojira.
