Amanda Brown is a screen composer, musician and songwriter from Sydney, Australia. She plays a variety of stringed instruments including violin, mandolin and guitar and was a member of The Go-Betweens, with whom she recorded two albums and toured the world. Amanda has appeared with artists including R.E.M, The Underground Lovers and David Bridie and occasionally performs live when not scoring for film and television.
Amanda scored feature films BABYTEETH, BRAZEN HUSSIES and SONGS INSIDE. She has a long list of television music credits including drama series PROSPER, ONE NIGHT, DEADLOCH, THE SECRETS SHE KEEPS and RFDS.
Amanda’s music for DEADLOCH won the 2024 ‘Best Music for Television’ AACTA Award as well as the 2023 ‘Best Music for a Television Series’ APRA AGSC Screen Music Award. Amanda’s score for BABYTEETH was awarded ‘Best Original Score’ and her music for BRAZEN HUSSIES ‘Best Original Score in a Documentary’ at the 2020 AACTA Awards. Her music for THE SECRETS SHE KEEPS was awarded ‘Best Music for a Television Series or Serial’ at the 2020 APRA AGSC Screen Music Awards.
EIGHT GUITARS is her first solo album of songs featuring guest guitarists drawn from a pool of regular collaborators and friends.
