An umbrella pseudonym for artist/producer Tom Casey, Amerivana recordings encompass a broad range of styles and influences. Ambient, electronic, and experimental tracks litter the Amerivana catalog in no particular order, something Casey believes is at the heart of the philosophy behind the IP.
“I think the ‘doing’ part of creativity is the most important thing by far,” says Casey. “Somewhere along the way, there was just tons of tracks built up from playing around and working on soundtracks for my friends’ films. One day I decided to just sit down and mix everything and listen back to it. If it feels good, I’ll release it. That’s it.”
And according to Casey, while his primary focus may be on his output as an indie pop songwriter, Amerivana encompasses an important aspect of his explorations as a producer.
“I think the great thing about the Amerivana stuff – it’s meant to just be listened to without any preconceptions. There’s different styles and different lengths of tracks – everything’s put there as a kind of compilation, so people can enjoy whatever aspects of it they like. It’s literally the complete opposite of being niche, which is basically what every artist is trying to be today because of playlists and the internet in general.
“Amerivana is just an outlet for these other sides of who I am, as a person. I think people can relate to that. Not everything in life needs to be niche or specific. Sometimes you just want to put a record on and see what happens.”
