Amitė is the musical brain-child behind Seattle, Washington based producers Jorgen Baertsch and Christopher Gerber. Inspired by artists such as Odesza, Blackmill, Kid Cudi, Coldplay, and Pink Floyd, Amitė tastefully blends a combination of psychedelic sounds, acoustic instruments, hip-hop drums, and meaningful vocals to take listeners on a sonic journey that can range from trance-like ambience all the way to bass-heavy bangers.
Jorgen and Chris’ upbringing largely influenced their musical style and is represented through their namesake “Amity” which was the river where they spent most of their time together. Growing up in the countryside of Duluth, MN they gained a deep appreciation for the power and simplicity of nature. Amitė now tries to incorporate the sounds of nature in all of their music whether its bird songs, rain, or the elegance and simplicity of the human voice.
Although their music is predominantly electronic, it is almost always accompanied with more traditional instruments such as electric and acoustic guitar, saxophone, xylophone, and strings. They intend to incorporate all of these into their live performance to create an environment that takes the listeners on an emotional journey. Amitė’s ultimate goal with music is to make connections and change the way people think, being present and raw on stage while consistently creating great music will be key in achieving that.
