Amy Root

Amy Root, Dutch duo Lukas Amer and Sjoerd Huissoon, will return with their
upcoming EP The Knot in December 2022. With their previous EP’s Lynn
(2018), Elif (2019) and Ava (2021) they have already shown their
immense capability of making music that compels great visual, mental and
almost mythical images triggered by their electronic beats and harmonies.
Lukas and Sjoerd who are both from The Hague, already crossed each
other's paths in the past. Later on, in 2018 when they met again at the
Conservatory of Rotterdam, they started working together as Amy Root.
Since then the duo constantly finds ways to improve their new sounds
with productions that evoke emotions of euphoria and melancholia.
Amy Root’s colour pallete is music. The colours they compose with
are things such as their childhood, family, friends, memories, insecurities
and adventures. Soon Lukas and Sjoerd felt how they shared this specific
approach on making music, both being inspired by diverse global artists
such as Jamie XX, Rival Consoles, Overmono, Thom Yorke, Danvers,
Machinedrum and Fela Kuti. This made their musical partnership
reciprocal, communal and intimate on many levels.
Amy Root’s strong connection results in a powerful energy that is
present when they produce and compose together. Earlier they performed
at multiple events such as Eurosonic, Down The Rabbit Hole, Best Kept
Secret, Catch, Amsterdam Dance Event and Wildeburg.
