Anadol is the solo project of Turkish musician and composer Gözen Atila. Based in Berlin, Atila developed a peculiar blend of lo-fi, European synth pop and rambling, psychedelic sound design that manages to be both spacious and playful. Her first major release was 2019's Uzun Havalar, which Anadol followed in 2022 with the album Felicita. The following year, a collection of her early works was released under the title Hatıralar.

After studying art, sound design, and music technology at Yıldız Technical University in Istanbul, Atila expanded her craft in multiple directions, working as a photographer, playing DJ sets, composing music for short films, producing radio shows, and playing live electronic sets. Relocating to Berlin, she began to distance herself from a more academic approach to sound design and launched the Anadol project. Inspired by outsider electronic pioneers like Bruce Haack and the Space Lady, Anadol released her 2019 debut, Uzun Havalar, on the small German cassette label Kinship. Its mix of abstract field recordings and melodic, lo-fi synth pop took cues from classic European soundtrack music and Turkish "tavern music." A follow-up release, Felicita, appeared in 2022 on Hamburg imprint Pingipung and added jazzy textures to Anadol's palette. In 2023, the same label released Hatıralar, a previously unreleased album she had originally recorded in 2012. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
