OperaWorld Magazine describes Andrea González Caballero as “the female voice of the Spanish guitar.” Winner of top prizes at the XL International Competition F. Sor (Rome) and the XIII Alhambra International Guitar Competition (Valencia), she has also been hailed by BBC Music Magazine as “one of today’s young rising stars of the classical guitar.”
Andrea has performed at leading festivals and venues such as the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, Madrid’s National Auditorium, Festival Casals in Puerto Rico, and San Francisco Performances, and has appeared with orchestras including the Puerto Rico Symphony, Cottbus Staatstheater, Sinfonietta Ratingen, and the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen.
Her 2017 Naxos album, with premieres and works by Britten, Albéniz, and Tárrega, received the Golden Melómano distinction. Her latest release, Reencuentros, a collection of Spanish transcriptions by de Falla, Albéniz, and López-Quiroga, earned critical acclaim and inspired a sold-out international tour across the U.S., Europe, and Australia. She studied at the Robert Schumann Musikhochschule in Düsseldorf, supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and DAAD, later earning a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Institute and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Miami Frost School of Music.
Andrea also created IDENTIDADE, a project uniting women from diverse arts, premiering an album for flute and guitar with Amalia Tortajada and Celia Ruiz Artacho.
