In the quiet of the Allgäu mountains where she grew up, Anni Yu (she/her) first began putting her thoughts into words – reflecting on identity, mental health, and the freedom to live and love beyond societal roles.
Her music blends indie, neo-soul and electronica, influenced by artists like Alice Phoebe Lou, Jordan Rakei and Tash Sultana.
Starting young on several instruments, she now mainly sings and plays electric guitar, piano and synthesizer. Using a loop station, she crafts songs for solo and collaborative live shows.
Her sound is a space for emotion, protest and connection—in both lyrics and tone.
After moving to Cologne to study music and mathematics, she found artistic growth through collaborations with several Cologne-based musicians. Together with Jan Benkest, she organized a queer bike demo for a music video project, bringing people together to raise their voices – literally and visually.
With songs in both English and German, Anni Yu shares her story while inviting listeners to find their own.
