Freestyling old school-fixated rap newcomers from Los Angeles, California, USA, Anotha Level featured a four-man MC crew - Ced Twice, Stenge, Imani and Bambino. The quartet was protégés of producer Laylaw, ex-manager of Above The Law, who had previously produced cuts for Ice Cube (who executive-produced the album) and Yo Yo. Preoccupations on their debut album included girls and Super Nintendo, while Ice Cube guested with them on one cut, ‘Level-N-Service’, and the Pharcyde joined the party for ‘Phat-T’. Sexism permeated tracks such as ‘Don’t Stimulate’, but it stopped short of obnoxiousness. Arguably the best cut was ‘Let Me Tell Ya’, the opening track, which featured dancehall DJ Don Jagwarr.
