Anubis Gate, a progressive metal outfit from Denmark with a melodic power metal core, draws inspiration from bands like Queensrÿche, King Crimson, Fates Warning, and Iron Maiden. Since emerging in the early 2000s, the band has elicited acclaim within the international prog-metal scene for detailed and dynamic efforts like The Detached (2008), Horizons (2014), and Interference (2023).
Founded in 2003, the group released their full-length debut, Purification, on Locomotive Records in 2006. Andromeda Unchained appeared the following year and doubled down on the collective's prog propensities, and in 2008, they released their most ambitious outing to date, the conceptual The Detached, which earned a Danish Metal Award for best production. The band inked a deal with Minnesota-based Nightmare Records before releasing their eponymous fifth long-player, which arrived in 2011. Anubis Gate continued to evolve on 2014's Horizons and 2016's Covered in Black, the latter of which adopted a darker and more dissonant tone. 2020's Covered in Colours saw the group deliver a wide-ranging covers album that touched on everything from thrash and prog to psych-pop and jazz. The band signed to Dutch label No Dust Records in 2023 and issued their heavy, melodic ninth studio long-player, Interference. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
