appleby [apple-bee] started releasing music in 2014, specifically drawing inspiration from
<a href="spotify:artist:1Xyo4u8uXC1ZmMpatF05PJ" data-name="The Weeknd">The Weeknd</a>. Initially, he kept his identity a secret. Within a few months he landed a daily discovery article on Pigeons & Planes. After a second post on P&P, a Maxim editor reached out to do a story on him for print in spring/summer 2015. That year, appleby had his first breakthrough soundcloud song "Bitter Boy" that peaked at #2 on Billboard Emerging Artists Chart. In 2016 and still independent, he released his first song on Spotify called <a href="spotify:album:03Uwt8TSfsNwjkCpKtRfAX" data-name="Castles">Castles</a> which climbed to #4 on the global viral charts. After two years of searching for a sound to call his own he was introduced to <a href="spotify:artist:4gzpq5DPGxSnKTe4SA8HAU" data-name="Coldplay">Coldplay</a>. They became his creative North Star. He taught himself to sing for the first time through listening to their album Parachutes on loop. In Summer 2018, appleby partnered with Nice Work to release his EP <a href="spotify:album:1SDd70DatYUcYCYtsTzifc" data-name="Happiness">Happiness</a>. Two songs from that EP landed on New Music Friday and by the end of the year he had songs in workout apps, H&M, an indie movie starring Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) and tv shows like Grownish (ABC) and Legacies (CW). Sticking with his Summer tradition he released another successful EP titled <a href="spotify:playlist:59sGtf6NFTLEk71X8fiN6I" data-name="While You Were Sleeping">While You Were Sleeping</a> via WILDER in partnership with Future Classic. His breakout single from the project <a href="spotify:track:7fuuoc674qrUMZeF7xnWd6" data-name="Enough">Enough</a> was spun on SiriusXM 400+ times and he was given the opportunity to put together a mix for SiriusXM Chill.
