NY by way of Iowa singer/songwriter Ariel Arbisser is defining her own path in pop: a big modern-day voice with a throwback vibe on 'Risk of Love,' her debut mainstream album. 'Love' channels and draws on threads ranging from Sara Bareilles, Brandi Carlile, Brittany Howard, and Eric Hutchinson to draw audiences into her lived experiences.
Through her lens as a white, Jewish, queer woman, she is transparent when learning out loud in the ongoing conversations about mental health, body neutrality, sex positivity, social and racial justice, and LGBTQ rights. The result is authentic storytelling inseparable from emotion - laced within harmony-laden voicings.
After becoming a nationally recognized lead vocalist in college (<a href="spotify:artist:3NlKRhu0N9GojAsmyHnAoY" data-name="Cornell Chordials">Cornell Chordials</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6XogACs8VtmzUPdkDDYGr2" data-name="The Chordials">The Chordials</a>), she had the pleasure of moonlighting with the inimitable, Grammy-winning <a href="spotify:artist:5QvPTVBx6OlrUuPwC8W3uU" data-name="The Swingles">The Swingles</a>.
While traveling the US teaching and performing, Ariel maintained a musical base in Ithaca, NY. For the better part of a decade, she sang with the popular funk/soul outfit The Jeff Love Band and others.
Recording for her upcoming debut solo album began in 2018. After a hiatus in the project, Ariel picked up the pieces and set sights on the finish line. Her mainstream debut album "Risk of Love" is out now - released Oct 15th.
“This album is completely me. It is a huge part of my life journey. Releasing the album is the final chapter of that book and now we’re moving on to the sequel. I can't wait to let you in on what comes after love."
