Violinist, arranger, conductor, composer, writer, publisher and producer Armando Sciascia (1920-2017) was one of the pioneers of Italian film and library music, as well as the founder of Milan-based record label Vedette Records and publisher Edizioni Musicali Eliseo.

After receiving a diploma in violin, composition and conducting from the Conservatory of Pesaro, in 1939 he moved to Milan, where he joined the orchestras of Milan’s Teatro Nuovo, Pomeriggi Musicali and RAI (the latter as first violin), before forming the Armando Sciascia Ensemble, which toured extensively across Europe. In the early ‘60s he scored several genre films, including horrors, noirs, westerns and a series of mondo movies. In the 80's he moved to US where he composed for musicals and ballets.
Vedette’s Records catalogue, which includes several sub-labels, ranges from Italian pop to easy listening, library music, documents of folk, classical and political music from the rest of the world.
Among his discoveries and collaborations there are Pooh, Equipe 84, Giorgio Gaber, Lelio Luttazzi, Celso Valli and many others.
He loved to release his production under many aka’s for every different musical genre:
