Aro are a Te Tiriti-based duo from Aotearoa, blending te reo Māori and English with a sound that moves between jazz, folk, soul, and RnB. Made up of Charles (Ngāpuhi, Te Rarawa, Ngāti Te Ata Waiohua, Ngāti Mutunga) and Emily Looker, their music is shaped by kaitiakitanga, manaakitanga, and the rhythms of life with their young whānau.

Their award-winning album He Rākau, He Ngārara (2024) celebrated native rākau and ngārara through iwi collaboration and received national acclaim.

Aro now step into a new chapter with Tāwauwau - a contemplative, whānau-shaped exploration of wonder, longing, and the light we carry forward for generations to come.
