He served for 7 years, then moved to London where he attended Goldsmith’s College for a year. During that year, he joined British Anarcho-Jazz collective, Loose Tubes. He eventually emerged as the frontman for the band and became mildly famous. While he was in Loose Tubes, he formed Microgroove with John Eacott. They released an album on Antilles/Island in 1990. Through that album, Ashley came to the attention of Norman Cook. The went on to form Freak Power which had one enormous hit (Turn On Tune In Cop Out) and a few minor ones. Since 2000, he’s released Big Lounge and Cellophane. He produces me writes a lot of different styles of music, still features regularly as a dance record vocalist and topliner and continues to produce music that he wants to listen to.
