Forget shuffleboard and bingo nights. Denton's Assisted Living are here to shove some existential dread into your retirement plans.

Assisted Living are a shot of tequila in your prune juice, a four-piece fever dream that blends Pavement's slacker anthems with Silver Jews sardonic wit, or Velvet Underground soundtracking a Philip K. Dick flick.

The bass is technical, carrying the load. The drums and guitar tastefully locked. The secret weapon? A theremin player who also somehow coaxes shoegaze textures from a mandolin - picture Brian Jones fried in a retirement community orchestra, and you're close.

The lyrics are delivered with a smirk, dissecting the absurdities of daily life with the wisdom of a Zen master who spends his days medicated on the front porch. It's psychedelic without the tie-dye, a musical mugging that'll leave you wanting more, even if you can't quite remember why.
