Ambient Computing, the new three-track EP from At Capacity, is a crisp new venture filled with bustling, ethereal house.
Haunting pitches and stepping rhythm contrast to create a trance-inducing melody on the first track, Developer’s Dream. If you close your eyes you can almost see coloured lights shooting through a smoky haze.
On the second track End Point, sheeting synths and gently fractured vocals drift over two-step percussion in a spaced-out exhibition of ebb and flow.
The EP’s title track carries on the energy with cantered drums, popping synths and ghoulish backing. A sustained pull-back releases tension then rebuilds it before the track blooms with renewed vigour. It stays strong and finishes strong to round out a solid composition made to be felt as much as heard.
