Autumn Gray are a Melbourne-based mini folk-rock army, renowned for their dense live sound, melodic musings and powerful stage performances. Showcasing the band’s musical versatility, debut album "The Diary of a Falling Man‟ features twelve original songs, with Jim O’Neill and John Paterson on vocals, supported by array of instruments - from a garage-sale harmonium to trumpets, strings and flute, grand piano, glockenspiel, synths and electronic beats to Hammond organ, drums, guitar and bass. No wonder Autumn Gray need seven people on stage to recreate this sumptuous, multi-layered sound.
"The Diary of a Falling Man‟ is the perfect soundtrack to your sun-dappled winter Sunday afternoons. Think early Augie March, or The Decemberists with a touch more rock and you should know what they are all about. Lyrical and kaleidoscopic, the album not only an exploration of a sense of self, of love and of what it means to be a citizen of the world – it is also an education in musical elegance and integrity.
