Avelia Moisey writes, records & performs trumpet & vocal music, sharing her take on life. She has a melodic, eclectic style based on jazz, with hints of Latin, soca, South African & classical music.

Avelia’s debut solo album ‘From the Shadows’ was released in November 2019 & includes her instrumental ‘Contemplating Life’, which reached the Finals of the UK Songwriting Contest 2019. All tracks are written & performed by Avelia, with Bruce Boardman on piano; the album was recorded by Fayyaz Virji.


Since having children Avelia co-wrote, & performed in, the 2-woman show “Ifs, Buts & Babies” (sharing the Delights, Dilemmas & Disasters!).

Now those babies are significantly older, Avelia continues to write & play her own music, alongside covers, mostly as a solo act (using backing tracks), or duo with pianist.


In her life BC (before children), Avelia’s work as a professional trumpet player included gigs, TV, radio, recording, and UK & international tours with artists such as Marti Webb & Jane MacDonald; and playing in the bands of many West End shows (including Jolson, Calamity Jane, Cats). She also performed under her own name playing both classical concerts (with brother Alvin Moisey) and jazz gigs (with Bruce Boardman).
