Awooga! is a high school indie rock band from Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Philippines. They debuted to Xavier School Nuvali in September 2022. Since then, they have consistently wowed audience after audience with their fast-paced performances and sheer unadulterated style.
The band was born from a text conversation between Riley Arabit (bass) and Reine Lantin (drums) on September 8, 2021, at the height of the pandemic. They had been inspired by 2000s rock bands, such as the Arctic Monkeys and the Foo Fighters; local OPM acts such as Ang Bandang Shirley and SOS; but also by the homegrown musical talents from Xavier School Nuvali, like Bone-A. So they made a promise to each other: once they could get out of the house, they would perform to the whole school in Xavier School Nuvali's Musikapwa benefit concert, face-to-face. Eventually, they enlisted Joaquin Mariano (lead guitar), Nathan Santiago (rhythm guitar), Lia Juan (lead vocals), and Luis Mariano (rhythm guitar/vocals/keyboard) in that dream - and soon enough, they were performing not only in Musikapwa 2022, but in the XSN Carolfest, Fair, and their own gigs in Three Monkeys.
Following their recent performance in Musikapwa 2023, and after a year in the making, Awooga! has released their first single: Sasamahan. No matter where they are or what they're performing, one thing is always sure when they perform: they're going to blow up your eardrums when they shout AWOOOOOOOGA!
