Aztlán: legendary ancestral land of the Nahua people, one of the main cultural groups of Mesoamerica. A name with colossal power that Marcello Antunes Paganus gave to his project in the second half of the 2000s, combining Death Metal with the warlike, polytheistic and bloodthirsty culture of the Mexica people, known as Aztecs.
The band pays homage to the ancient rites of Mesoamerica, its history of ascension and resistance against the oppression of those who came to the Americas to plunder its wealth and impose Christian culture as a facade and strategy of domination.
Aztlán performs Death Metal incorporating elements of Black Metal and traditional Heavy Metal, addressing historical and conceptual themes in this peculiar universe and cosmogony.
The next release will be the new EP Xipe Totec, available for streaming on 05/08/2025 and later on Vinyl in an exclusive Split LP with the brothers of the band Malefactor. Stay tuned for the signal of the sacrifices!!
Aztlán are:
Marcello Paganus – Bass/Vocals
Mateus Alves – Guitars
Diego Linhares – Guitars
Luciano Crux – Drums
