Bad Colours is the Brooklyn-based producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist Ibrahim Soliman. His third LP, Promise (Bastard Jazz), follows 2024’s collaborative Been Here Before with Cor.Ece. Across house, proto-techno, soul, hip-hop, and UK-garage, Promise blends hypnotic club rhythms with intimate reflection—capturing vulnerability, desire, and transformation.

The title track sets the tone with a harp-driven house groove featuring Rachel Kitchlew, layered with ghostly female vocals. “We Never Choose” (featuring Life On Planets) is a soulful, filtered floor-filler. “Moment of Silence” spotlights Brandon Markell Holmes over a late-night rhythm. “Freaks” brings Ninjasonik’s rapid-fire flow to a bass-heavy chug. “Nightcap” rides a funky bassline with Jarv Dee’s smooth vocals, and Promise closes with “Home,” a piano-led, Masters at Work-inspired groove featuring the artist’s own spoken-word poetry.

London-born, Maryland-raised and now based in Brooklyn, Ibrahim's career spans DJing alongside James Murphy, Mark Ronson, and Q-Tip; producing for Kendrick Lamar and Faith Evans; and collaborating with Korean rap star Jay Park. His work has been praised by NYLON, Resident Advisor, Wonderland, and Electronic Groove, and heard on KCRW, KEXP, and CBC Radio 3. His music has also featured in Netflix’s Spiderhead, Hulu’s WOKE, and Disney’s Chang Can Dunk.
