Bakai (Brett Atkinson) is a lo-fi house producer living in Cape Town, South Africa. Born in Port Elizabeth and raised on Rock n Roll, Bakai kickstarted his music career playing bass guitar in dingy pubs across various rock bands with his friends. Through his move to the Mother City, Brett's love for electronic music production began to grow along with his collection of out-of-production vintage analogue gear. DX7s, MPCs and old film handy-cams make up the arsenal to his creative excellence.
In August 2020, Bakai released his debut EP 'Kiwi Daze', blending lo-fi instrumental house with tracks featuring some of Cape Town's most prominent indie voices including Manu Grace, The World of Birds' Red Robyn and Orah from Orah & the Kites.
